Kingdom Monera

Monerans- Monerans have no nucleus, and are single-celled organisms, this includes bacteria, and cyanobacteria.

There are many various types of bacteria found in the Monera kingdom. One bacterium found in onions that grow in moist grasslands is called Pseudomonas syrangae. Its common name is Pseudomonas leek blight. Another bacterium called Xanthomonas campestris is found in wheat that is grown in grasslands. This bacterium causes a variety of plant diseases. Its common name is Bacterial leaf streak, Black chaff, and/or Bacterial stripe.

Pseudomonas syrangae is found in onions that grow in moist prairies.

Kingdom ProtistaProtists- Protists have a nucleus and organelles. They are mostly single-celled organisms. This includes protozoans and algae.

Protozoans are animal-like and they have no cell walls and no chlorophyll. Amoeba-Scientific Name: Amoeba proteus

Amoebas are mostly found in the soil of grasslands, which is rich with nutrients.

Unlike protozoans, algae are plant-like and they have cell walls and chlorophyll.

Closterium aciculare: Found in ponds of the grasslands.

Kingdom Fungi
Fungi- Fungi are multi-celled and have no chlorophyll. These organisms absorb the nutrients they need that surround them.

An example of club fungi in a grassland is the Hygrocibe miniata. This fungi is a small to medium-sized reddish wax cap with a covering of tiny scales. There is often a narrow yellow margin to the cap. Found in grasslands, fixed dunes, open coniferous plantations and heaths. The toadstool is common and widespread in the UK and is their most common wax cap on acid soils. The small scarlet wax caps have been much confused in the past and older records should be treated with caution.

An example of sac fungi found in a grassland in Burwash, England, is called Ascotremella faginea. This fungus has no stem and it can be found in Burwash, England, in an area that is logged that contains a mix of conifers and hardwood. Below to the left is a picture of Ascotremella faginea.
